About Yasmin

Yasmin is an empathetic Licensed Mental Health Counselor with Diagnostic Privilege (LMHC-D), with a wide range of experience working with individuals of all age ranges. She has worked in various settings including private practice, high school, college, and supportive housing, assisting individuals facing mental health issues paired with substance use. She believes that everyone deserves access to therapy regardless of their background.

Yasmin has training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), helping individuals access their emotions on a deeper level through somatic experiences. She uses this therapeutic approach to undue the aloneness of the client within the session and promote healing.

Yasmin is also a trauma-informed therapist that is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, helping individuals reprocess traumatic experiences and memories that affect their quality of life. She also uses components of EMDR in sessions with clients experiencing anxiety and depression.

In addition to these modalities, Yasmin uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) quite often to support those experiencing anxious thoughts and feelings. Yasmin takes a client-centered approach to therapy and ensures that her clients feel safe, supported, and heard throughout each session. She specializes in working with couples, young adults experiencing quarter-life crises, children and teens. She also works closely with women’s issues, including postpartum anxiety and depression and traumatic birth experiences. She also works with those that are a part of the BIPOC community and LGBTQ+ community.

Yasmin ensures that the therapeutic relationship is one that is respectful and meaningful. She uses each session as a way to help heal, learn, and grow while also celebrating life’s accomplishments and wins along the way.

Yasmin has experience as a Social Services Supervisor at Women in Need and is currently a School Counselor at Fort Hamilton High School. She also supervises mental health clinicians in addition to providing therapy.
