Maryann Aita
Psychotherapist in Training
About Maryann
Maryann believes that therapy should help all people thrive. She is passionate about helping her clients shape their unique path through the therapeutic process. Trust is essential in counseling, and she believes trust is best built by first understanding individual identities, needs, desires, limitations, and aspirations. By fostering a safe space for clients to examine, wander, and problem-solve, she empowers them to make personal discoveries and, ultimately, purposeful change.
When working with Maryann, you can expect to explore your past, present, and future as she guides you toward self-discovery. With a Master’s in creative writing, she often incorporates writing and narrative in her counseling sessions. She enjoys helping clients develop their unique personal narratives based on their life experiences and intersectional identities.
As a psychotherapist-in-training at Therapeutic Experience, Maryann works with children, adolescents, and adults. Some of the primary challenges she works with are anxiety, depression, trauma, work- and school-related stress, neurodivergence, self-esteem issues, parenting, and understanding identity.
Maryann is a graduate mental health counseling student at Hunter College. Her coursework emphasizes multicultural counseling and social justice in counseling. She enjoys learning about each client’s background and building a strong foundation of trust.
