50+ Gay Mens' Therapy Group
Why Group Therapy?
Group therapy can help alleviate anxiety, depression, and fear around vulnerability, especially in group settings. It can also reduce loneliness and help you address issues you may be struggling with. Group members provide a different perspective than your own, which can add clarity or challenge limiting thoughts. Group therapy offers a different therapeutic experience than individual or couples therapy.
In an aged 50+ gay men's group, this process of undoing aloneness is especially important. In any LGBTQIA+ population, there exists shame that can make us feel like we are on our own. For 50+ men, this can be exacerbated by the nature of the gay rights movement operating through social media. Older gay men may also experience a recloseting with age as they are represented less in the gay community and in online spaces.
That is why this group is being created in person, to foster a sense of community and deepen gay men aged 50+'s connection to their community.
