Psychotherapist in Training
About May
Meet May, a therapist dedicated to supporting individuals through challenges with eating disorders, trauma, attachment, mood, identity, and life transitions. She believes in a collaborative therapeutic relationship that honors each client’s humanity. At the heart of May’s work is a commitment to her clients’ best interests, walking alongside them with utmost understanding and respect for their individuality. With May, clients are welcomed into a burden-free space where they can be authentic, even fall apart, and still be held safely without judgment. All clients are “seen” as a whole person, never reduced to just their problems.
Grounded in trauma-informed, relational, attachment, and mindfulness-based approaches, May will guide clients in exploring the core beliefs and early relationship experiences that shape their present lives. She views healing as a process of gaining insight into how we make sense of ourselves, others, and our relationships. For May, therapy is not a quick fix, but a place where all parts of you, even the ones you have learned to hide, can be expressed and met with compassion, honesty, and trust. May will carry your pain and struggles together with you to get through life, not over it.
As a multicultural and multilingual individual, May is also fluent in English and Burmese and grew up immersed in diverse cultures. She brings cultural sensitivity and awareness into every session, honoring the complexity of intersecting identities and lived experiences.
Currently, May is pursuing a master’s degree in Psychological Counseling at Columbia University, building on a foundation in neuroscience and psychology from her undergraduate studies at Boston University. With a lifelong passion for mental health, May brings both knowledge and heart to the therapeutic relationship.
