Elle Payette
Psychotherapist in Training
About Elle
Meet Elle, a psychotherapist-in-training from Columbia University with an academic background in psychology, art, queer studies, and religious mythologies. They believe our identities, histories, and unique positionalities profoundly impact the way we move through the world in relation to both ourselves and others. Rather than seeing symptoms as mere problems to be solved, Elle believes that if we attend to symptoms with curiosity, they can point us to something deeper waiting to be understood.
Drawing from psychodynamic, relational, and intersectional feminist frameworks, Elle is particularly attuned to the underlying experiences, narratives, and structures that shape our inner worlds. They view every client within the context of the many systems they move through and see struggles not as pathologies, but as meaningful responses to the conditions in which we exist. With a clinical focus in LGBTQIA+ affirming practice, and an academic background in trans/gender expansive research and scholarship, Elle sees therapy as a collaborative space to examine hopes, fears, and the impact of personal history while simultaneously equipping clients with the tools and skills to navigate the realities of their present lives.
In a direct yet empathetic style, Elle aims not to impose meaning but rather to help clients discover their own with compassion and curiosity. Above all, they are committed to creating an affirming, nonjudgmental space where all parts of the self are unconditionally welcome and heard.
