ADEP
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is a therapeutic approach that aims to help clients access and process emotions that have been blocked or repressed due to past experiences. AEDP therapists create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore and process emotions, helping them to achieve greater emotional awareness, self-understanding, and personal growth. AEDP is an evidence-based therapeutic modality developed in the 1990s by Dr. Diana Fosha.
This therapeutic modality is based on attachment theory and draws from other therapeutic modalities such as psychodynamic-therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and emotion-focused therapy. Therapists who offer AEDP typically have extensive training and certification in this modality. They work with clients to help them access and process their emotions in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.
AEDP therapists may use techniques to facilitate emotional processing, including imagery, role-playing, and other experiential methods. Overall, AEDP aims to help clients develop a greater sense of emotional resilience and flexibility, which can help them better navigate life's challenges and improve their overall well-being. Treatment from an AEDP therapist emerges a newness of the self through healing in the presence of a supportive other.
